How I Shopped the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale
If you've been on Instagram lately, you've probably seen a number of bloggers and influencers talking (read: raving) about the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale #NSale. I first learned about this annual sale last year, which prompted me to get a Nordstrom credit card just so I could shop the sale early. Yep, I got totally sucked in, but it really is that good.
What the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale is all about
The Nordstrom Anniversary Sale is a magical event when all of Nordstrom's new arrivals go on sale for a limited time. That's right, you can shop all the latest fall trends and stock up on new sweaters, booties, and coats until your fashionable little heart's content - without breaking the bank. Nordstrom cardholders get early access to the sale for a week before everyone else. The Anniversary Sale is now open to the public, so anyone can shop these awesome deals through August 6th! After that, prices go back up on August 7th. The reason I got the card last year and shopped early this year is because items sell out fast. The best recommendation I read was to order multiple sizes of items, so that I didn't have to worry about trying to exchange and not being able to get my size. This post isn't sponsored and I'm not getting compensated to talk about these items. I literally just thought this would be a fun post to write! I seriously love fashion (see previous posts on Fabletics and Stitch Fix), but at the same time I don't spend a lot on clothes, at least not very often. Buying clothes from Nordstrom isn't something I do on the reg, and buying this many items is a rare occasion too. But, the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale was the right opportunity to stock up on some new things for fall, and my justification is I'll donate some of my older items. Maybe. ;)
My Nordstrom Anniversary Sale Purchases (2017)
I haven't decided if I'm keeping all of them, so let me know in the comments which ones you like best! Each title links to the item on Nordstrom's site. (P.S. If anything is sold out in your size and/or color, check out the "People Also Bought" column on the right hand side of the Nordstrom site, or the "Frequently Bought Together" stripe towards the bottom of the page. I promise to do this earlier next year!)BP. Cutout Neck PulloverSale: $31.90, After Sale: $49I bought this sweater in a small and x-small so I could try both. I typically wear a small in shirts, but when they're extra drapey like this sweater, I can usually go down to an x-small, which is what I'm wearing in this picture. The more I put this sweater on, the more it grows on me... I want to love it for the trendy choker detail and the low v-neck and the fact that it's different than any other sweaters I own. However, I'm not completely sold. What do you think?Socialite Cutout Choker TeeSale: $17.90, After Sale: $28.00I already wore this tee twice this past weekend, so I guess that means I'm keeping it! (Another choker shirt, so I really hope that trend doesn't go completely out of style anytime soon.) This color is Mauve and I'm wearing a medium. I ordered a small and a medium, but for some reason the small didn't show up in the box. It's on its way, but I couldn't wait to wear it, so I just went ahead and wore the medium. It's loose fitting but I like to tuck an edge in my jeans so it looks a little more fitted. The fabric is so soft and comfortable, I kind of want to get more colors! I feel like I never have enough basic shirts in my closet, so this one will be a go-to.Hinge Tie Sleeve TopColor: Black Wild Ditsy FloralSale: $49.90, After Sale: $79I love the print and the overall fit of this top (ordered a small, which is already sold out!). The bows looked fun in the picture online, but when I actually tried the shirt on I was like "am I gonna get totally annoyed by these dang things?" I can't decide if they'll get in the way, or if I can deal with them for the sake of fashion. I'm leaning towards the latter, because bows. And flowers. How can a girl resist? Also, I think I can pair this with a lot of different things and make it work day to night. I wasn't thrilled about the price, but a $30 discount makes it a little easier to justify.Lush Ruffle Sleeve T-Shirt DressColor: OliveSold out (was $29.90)Wow, this dress is completely sold out! In every color and size, crazy. See, this is what I mean. It's totally worth getting the Nordstrom card so you have access to every size and color before you miss out! Some bloggers literally shop at midnight the first night of the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale to make sure they get their favorite items. I won't go on and on about this dress since I don't want you to feel left out ;), but it is super comfortable and I can totally see it being a fall staple with my tights, boots, and blanket scarfs #basic. I usually like dresses to be more fitted, but I think I can work with this one. Plus it has pockets.BP. Ruffle Cold Shoulder PulloverColor: Grey (sold out)Sale: $31.90, After Sale: $49Clearly I'm all about three details: ruffles, cutouts, and choker necklines. I really love this sweater (wearing a small). When I first put it on the ruffles felt a little over the top, but then I thought, there's nothing wrong with being a little over the top. I love the fit and I know I can do a lot with the grey color in terms of accessorizing.
So when you shop the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale, do the following:
- Check out other bloggers' #NSale hauls. I checked out Paleomg, Neha Beauty, and several others before shopping (and after, you know, in case I missed anything).
- Think about what you already have in your closet and what you could really use to update your wardrobe. (I only semi-followed this rule...) Don't feel bad about getting a few trendy items too, this is the time!
- Order multiple sizes when possible. Nordstrom has free returns so no worries!
- Get the Nordstrom card next year, so you can shop early.
- Let me know what you get! I'd love to see pics! :) And use the hashtag #NSale on Instagram!
Happy shopping!SaraThis post is not sponsored, all opinions are my own, and none of the links provided are affiliate links. Although Nordstrom does offer an affiliate program to receive compensation through affiliate links, I am not a member. Yet.
