If there’s one thing I know, it’s that life comes in seasons. There’s a quote I found long ago that still resonates with me today and often serves as my mantra:
“There is a reason for your season of waiting.”
Sometimes your season overlaps with someone else’s season, and that can be some tough shit-ake mushrooms. Like really tough.
I’m just here to tell you that it’s okay to take your season. Embrace what you’re going through and be gentle with yourself. Just because you start something and take a break from it, doesn’t mean you aren’t still passionate about it.
Sometimes you have to take your season, for the sake of your own mental health. It doesn’t mean you should crumble under the weight of tough decisions, it just means you should give yourself grace to take a step back. You may find that new and different things take priority as you pass through your seasons, and that’s okay.
If it sounds like I’m talking to myself, it’s because I am, but hopefully these reminders resonate with you too. If you’ve been following my blog over the past couple months, you may have noticed I took a short season away from writing. I’ve only posted twice in the past 2 months. Yep, TWICE. And to be honest, I don’t feel that guilty about it.
Instead of devoting myself to writing and planning, I’ve been working really hard on the healthy lifestyle challenge I discussed in this post. Fitness wasn’t the only thing that characterized this season – there were some tough conversations and decisions that took place as well – but we’ll get to those another time.
I’m not saying you can’t workout, meal prep, and pursue your non-fitness-related passions all at the same time. In fact, that’s why I’m here writing this post today. The challenge is over, and I’ve made some amazing strides in my physical and mental health. I feel ready to maintain this lifestyle, and shift some focus back to my passion for my blog and wedding planning. I realize that it’s time to get back to all my goals.
Guys, I LOVE writing for you. And I LOVE wedding planning. So please don’t think that I don’t. It’s just, like I said, sometimes you have to take some time for your seasons and different priorities.
Well, I won’t drag this post on for too long. Just a little Tuesday morning soul sharing and encouragement.
Happy (rainy Central Illinois) Tuesday!
